Hi, I’m Javier Ortiz and this is another Rastrac Tech Minute.
Today I want to talk to you about an innovative method of fleet and people management that is used on your cell phone. All you need is an Android or iOS smart phone with the PocketRastrac app installed to get a sophisticated fleet and people management system without spending money on installing tracking in your vehicles. Don’t get me wrong, an installed fleet management system gives you much more information and many more reports for you to make decisions on the efficient operation of your fleet. However, PocketRastrac lets the system follow your vehicles while the drivers are inside the vehicles and delivers the added value of knowing where your drivers are when they are out of the vehicle.
Think about that for Law Enforcement…If a Police Officer or Sheriff’s deputy are chasing a suspect and the officer has to stop the vehicle, get out and chase them on foot, you can still track the officer and dispatch help for them much more accurately. Or, maybe the officer is searching an abandoned building, a neighborhood or a forested area on foot. Your dispatcher can see exactly where the officer is and is able to send help to that spot with much greater confidence; creating a safer environment for your law officer. PocketRastrac even has a button for the officer to push if they get in a dangerous situation and can’t take the time to call or send a message manually.
In vehicle, you can still determine real-time location info, miles traveled, stop times and durations, and driving habits (speed, harsh braking, etc.) and it reports your phone battery level and gives you a breadcrumb trail of where your people have been on the road and on the ground. And the system keeps the historical information for up to two years.
PocketRastrac can be used as a timekeeper with a built-in Timecard report or a tracker of any kind of event with customizable messages it can send when an event occurs or a task is started and/or completed. It can also provide location info even when GPS is not available; it just uses the cell network to triangulate the position of the phone.
So, you can see, PocketRastrac turns your phone into a versatile tool for tracking your folks in and out of their vehicles and makes their environment much safer and more efficient to work in.
